Vi Peel Your Way to Better Skin in the New Year

Elite Plastic Surgery | Grand Rapids, MI Winter in Grand Rapids can feel a little claustrophobic at times when the temperatures drop below zero and the wind is howling outside. It’s a good time to catch up on the reading we didn’t get to during the summer and fall. It’s also a good time to catch up on your skin care with a Vi Peel at Elite Plastic Surgery.

Our Vi Peels are medical-grade chemical peels that are great for a wide range of skin issues — everything from acne scarring to rosacea. And, although the Vi Peel doesn’t require downtime, you do need to avoid any sun exposure for a couple weeks afterwards. That makes January and February the perfect time to come in and have a Vi Peel.

What is the Vi Peel?

The Vi Peel is a pre-formulated medical-grade chemical peel from Vi Aesthetics. It has different variations for different specific skin issues. The magic of these peels is in the formula created by Vi Aesthetics. The Vi Peel is a blend of trichloroacetic acid, tretinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and other minerals. All of these acids work together to safely remove the damaged layers of the skin, promote cellular turnover, and refine the surface layer for smoother, clearer, firmer skin that looks younger, more radiant, and refreshed.

What issues can the Vi Peel help?

This is a wide-ranging skin improvement peel. At Elite, we use it to treat:

  • Acne
  • Acne scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Melasma
  • Rosacea
  • Enlarged pores
  • Oil imbalances

We use the Vi Peel on the face, neck, chest, arms, back, and legs. It is one of the only peels safe for the under-eye area.

How is the Vi Peel done?

When you come in for a Vi Peel, we first clean your skin. Next we apply the peel formula in two phases: one penetrates into the skin cells on the skin’s surface, and the other penetrates more deeply into the dermis. The solution dries quickly. You can go back to work or other normal activities, but you leave the Vi Peel on your skin for 5 hours before washing it off.

What happens next?

Nothing happens immediately, but don’t let that fool you. The Vi Peel solution is breaking down the skin bonds to allow exfoliation. In 2-3 days your skin will begin peeling, and this will continue for up to 6 days. Your skin usually will appear as if you have a slight sunburn that is flaking off. Your full results will take from 4-6 weeks to show as the skin rebuilds.
