Dr. Matthew Fahrenkopf is a skilled physician specializing in both Hand and Plastic Surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the Michigan State Medical Society. He also serves as a clinical assistant professor through the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine.
He attended Medical School at the University of Toledo College of Medicine, continuing his surgical education at the Grand Rapids/Michigan State University Surgery Residency Program. Following residency, Dr. Fahrenkopf completed an Orthopaedic Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He returned to Grand Rapids in 2021 to join Elite Plastic Surgery. He has published and reviewed numerous articles on hand and plastic surgery in professional journals, in addition to presenting at national meetings. Dr. Fahrenkopf’s areas of interest include hand/wrist surgery, microsurgery, soft tissue reconstruction, body contouring, and breast surgery including breast reconstruction.
Dr. Fahrenkopf has a passion for education. He is dedicated to teaching residents in the Michigan State University Residency Program, providing expertise to other physicians. Educating patients on their medical condition, options, and outcomes is important to Dr. Fahrenkopf, knowing that patients who are engaged in their medical care will realize their most successful outcomes. He strives to meet patient expectations while delivering safe and effective care.
