Matthew Martin, MD attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He then continued his surgical training with Grand Rapids/Michigan State University Plastic Surgery Residency program. Dr. Martin subsequently completed a dedicated Hand Surgery fellowship through the University of New Mexico. Dr. Martin returned to Grand Rapids and joined Elite Plastic Surgery in 2014, with focus areas including reconstructive plastic surgery of the breast, upper and lower extremities, and face; surgery of the hand and wrist; surgical treatments for redundant skin following massive weight loss; body contouring procedures; and aesthetic surgical procedures including surgical treatments of the face and breasts.
Dr. Martin is currently a clinical assistant professor through the Department of Surgery at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is a member of both the Kent County Medical Society and the Michigan State Medical Society. He has authored publications in the areas of reconstructive surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, breast and aesthetic surgery and healthcare delivery, and has presented nationally and internationally at numerous plastic surgery meetings.
Dr. Martin and his partners at Elite Plastic Surgery aim to provide exceptional patient care, and he understands a critical part of this is making patients feel comfortable. The decisions a patient must make surrounding the time of surgery can be challenging, but Dr. Martin makes the process as easy as possible through patient education, an easy going bedside manner, and taking all the necessary time to ensure his patients understand what they should expect around the time of surgery.
