Whether you’ve lost a good deal of weight or whether it’s simply genetics, many women aren’t happy with their thighs because of excess skin and fat deposits. A thigh lift with the team at Elite Plastic Surgery can slim your thighs.
What is a thigh lift?
Clinically termed thighplasty, a thigh lift can be done with different techniques, depending on the patient’s individual situation. Regardless of the technique used, the goal is to refine the contours of both the inner and outer thigh. Thigh lifts may include liposuction, but they are generally focused on removing excess skin and tightening the area.
What can a thigh lift address?
Thigh lifts focus on the entire circumference of the upper legs, from the knees up to the buttocks. Thigh lifts remove excess skin and excess fat pockets. They also usually improve the look of cellulite by tightening the skin over subcutaneous tissue and muscle. The end result will be slimmer, more toned thighs.
Types of thigh lifts
These surgeries break down into two main options, based on the incision location. What option your Elite surgeon will recommend will be based on your situation. You’ll discuss your options during your consultation.
- Inner thigh lift — With an inner thigh lift, the incisions are placed in the groin and extend downward, wrapping around the back of the thigh. Another method removes excess skin from the groin area and the incision then runs down the inseam of the leg to the knee.
- Outer thigh lift — Outer lifts involve more extensive incisions. They usually extend from the groin around the hip and across the back. It may be possible to hide most of these incisions under clothing, but there will be scarring.
Thigh lift or liposuction?
Some patients seek to have only liposuction on their sagging thighs, and this does limit the scarring. But removing fat from beneath sagging skin can actually exacerbate the problem. That’s why thigh lifts are usually more concerned with removing excess sagging skin and repositioning the skin over the underlying muscle structure and fatty tissue.
