During this weirdest of years, it’s a shame, but mistletoe definitely won’t be within the six-foot social distancing limits. But that doesn’t mean we won’t want our lips to look full, defined, and eminently kissable, even if it’s just our extended family who’s going to see them.
We can’t all have lips like Angelina Jolie, and that’s a crime. Some of us never had anything but thin, lifeless lips. Others have noticed that as they’ve gotten older, their lips have flattened and thinned. Thanks for nothin’, declining collagen production!
But at Elite Plastic Surgery, Dawn Ford, our Registered Nurse and Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist, can give you full, kissable lips this holiday season. She can do so with Restylane Silk, the dermal filler specifically formulated to add subtle volume and definition to the lips.
Silk fills out the lips and also addresses the vertical wrinkles on the lips that come with age. It is also effective for erasing other lines surrounding the mouth.
Restylane Silk
You’ve heard of Restylane, the hyaluronic acid filler used for treatment of wrinkles such as nasolabial folds. It was the first dermal filler approved by the FDA back in 2005. In January of 2015 a new member was added to the Restylane family, Restylane Silk. Restylane Silk is a smooth gel designed to restore natural definition and symmetry to the lip and mouth area.
What do these fillers work on?
Nurse Ford uses Silk in two ways: to enhance the lips and to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles on the lips and the surrounding areas. These wrinkles are sometimes called “barcode” lines, and Silk fills the area under them and erases them. Silk does this without adding artificial-looking volume or over-plumping the lips.
How does it work?
Restylane Silk is a clear hyaluronic acid gel that has been formulated specifically for the lips and surrounding areas of the face. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. Its job is to plump and hydrate the skin. It does this by binding with nearby water molecules. Because the skin around the mouth is delicate, Silk is formulated with smaller particles in a smooth texture. This smoothness makes these fillers very accurate when placed, an important benefit for the lips.
