The Vi Peel

During this past year we’ve all been on one too many Zoom meetings and FaceTime calls, and that’s given us all a good look at our own visage right there on our screen.

The verdict? Boy, my skin could use a little brightening and help.

At Elite Plastic Surgery one of our popular non-surgical treatments is the Vi Peel, and in this bane of the COVID times, maybe it’s just what your facial skin needs!

What is the Vi Peel?

The Vi Peel is a blend of synergistic peeling agents such as trichloroacetic acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid. These are the three acids that are used, usually alone, in various strength chemical peels. When used together in a dedicated application in the Vi Peel they provide noticeable skin improvement without the discomfort, downtime, and pre-peel prep required by typical chemical peels.

What the Vi Peel can improve

Melissa Heys provides all of our Vi Peel treatments at Elite. She uses the Vi Peel to achieve various skin improvements. It can:

  • Soften lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce the appearance of enlarged pores
  • Improve skin tone, texture, and clarity
  • Reduce unwanted freckles or melasma
  • Reduce acne and scarring from previous breakouts

The Vi Peel also stimulates the skin to produce new collagen and elastin, firming the skin in the weeks after the procedure. Another benefit is that the Vi Peel is safe for all skin types and pigments. This contrasts with many chemical peels that can alter skin pigment in the area of the peel, so are not recommended for those with darker skin tones.

How we do a Vi Peel

The secret to the Vi Peel is the combination of acids. Together they work to exfoliate the outer layers of your epidermis. While the results are akin to more aggressive peels, there isn’t really any crusting or recovery with the Vi Peel.

The procedure takes around 20 minutes. During the first few seconds of your Vi Peel, you’ll feel a minor stinging sensation, but after the first pass your skin adjusts and you’ll feel little if anything.

Afterwards

After your Vi Peel your skin will lightly flake off for the first 3-4 days. In contrast to the crusting and dryness of many peels, however, this flaking is minor and not uncomfortable. After the flaking subsides, your skin then goes about the business of regeneration, improving your epidermis.
