Shannon Armstrong, MD

Plastic Surgeon Grand Rapids MI | Shannon Armstrong, MDDr. Shannon Armstrong is a highly trained Plastic and Hand Surgeon at Elite Plastic Surgery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Armstrong is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and completed an internationally-renowned microvascular and hand surgery fellowship at The Buncke Clinic in San Francisco. At The Buncke Clinic, he trained where the field of microsurgery was invented, and obtained vast experience in breast reconstruction, microvascular reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, and hand and complex nerve surgery. He was also clinical faculty for Stanford University and University of California San Francisco plastic surgery residents.

Dr. Armstrong is a native of Ohio and received his medical degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. In medical school, he received many top honors including selection to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society.

Following medical school, he trained at Michigan State University/Grand Rapids Plastic Surgery Residency. During his residency he published numerous journal articles, wrote a chapter in a plastic surgery textbook, and received many awards for his scholarly presentation. He presented nationally and internationally at plastic and hand surgery meetings.

Dr. Armstrong is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Surgery, Michigan State University and continues to be a vigorous researcher. Dr. Armstrong currently enjoys a busy and diverse practice. His clinical passions include breast reconstruction, hand surgery, microsurgery, complex head and neck reconstruction, extremity and trunk reconstruction, body contouring, and cosmetic surgery.
